Thoughts on the early history of the Royal Order of Scotland

WBro. Christopher Powell

Bro. Powell will engage us in his usual style. The topic as yet remains part of the grand mystery of Masonry. It bristles with tantalising questions, connections and possibilities of great importance. Doubtless we will be stimulated and wish to know more. The open question and answer session is your opportunity to probe the mind and opinions of this popular savant.

Venue: Westhoughton Masonic Hall, Peel Street , Westhoughton, BL5 3SP at 18.30hrs.

Wednesday, 22 May.

What and Why?

Association visit and discussion at an exemplary Masonic museum.

A fresh era seems to be dawning at Great Queen Street. The Chairman of the Board of General Purposes, Geoffrey Dearing, is ‘hugely respectful of tradition and history’ and keen to promote better, effective communication. Sir David Wootton, Chairman of the Improvement Delivery Group, seeks to ‘prioritize learning’. And David Staples, Grand Secretary, has burst on the scene vigorously to assert that ‘Freemasonry is so much bigger than what each of us believes’. Buzz round the beehive!

Bordeaux 2019

Several members of MAMR will have taken part in the ICOM conference held at Bordeaux over the 7-9 June weekend. The theme there will be A fertile half-century on both sides of the Atlantic. The roll-call of participants (www.icom.fm) reads like a Who’s Who of active Masonic experts. This will be an opportunity for our members to report back with their individual impressions.

Tuesday, 26 November, within Lodge No. 126, tyled, at Manchester Hall

Austrian Freemasonry
